How Our Ministry Helps Foster Families in Virginia
At Foster Love Ministries, our Support Program is a cornerstone of the care we provide to foster children and resource families across Virginia. Through meaningful community partnerships, we meet urgent needs at the time of foster care placement, bringing comfort, dignity, and practical support when it matters most.
What Are First Responders?
Our First Responders are local businesses, churches, civic groups, and organizations that partner with Foster Love Ministries to provide targeted support each month of the year. These incredible groups “adopt” a month and work closely with us to meet the real-time needs of children entering foster care and the families who care for them.
What First Responders Provide
Each First Responder group plays a vital role in ensuring children and families feel supported. Items often donated include:

Why It Matters
Every child entering foster care deserves to feel safe and cared for. By meeting basic needs quickly, we help reduce the stress of a new placement and allow foster families to focus on what really matters: loving and nurturing the children in their care.
Journey Bags
We make sure each child entering foster care receives a Journey Bag packed with new items to bring comfort, dignity, and a sense of belonging.
Provide Resources
We provide resource families with essential items at the time of placement, like bedding, car seats, clothing for all ages, and more.
Meals
We deliver meals to resource families within the first few days of placement, giving them more time to settle in and focus on connecting with the child or children in their care.
Appreciation
We support Social Services by honoring social workers with an annual appreciation luncheon and gift, and by keeping visitation rooms stocked with snacks and cleaning supplies for visiting bio-families.
